The Department of Chemical Engineering has organised a one day national workshop on "FUEL CELL TECHNOLOGY- OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES" on 29th September. Fuel cells are Electrochemical cells that converts chemical energy from a fuel into electrical energy through electrochemical reaction of hydrogen fuel with oxygen or oxidizing agents. Fuel cells can produce electrically continuously for as long as fuel and oxygen are supplied.

The workshop covered the physical concepts and technological aspects of various types of fuel cells. The objective is to make the participants aware of the potential applications and challenges in fuel cells.

The workshop was chaired by his Excellency Dr P.V.S Ganesh kumar, Scientist, NSTL, Visakhapatnam. He delivered the speech which enlightened the participants on the advances of fuel cell technology. He also Focused on the major problems related to it.

Dr Y.M.C Sekhar, Vice Principal, gave a brief view about energy crisis and about alternative sources of energy. He also motivated the fellow participants to make a use of the workshop. Dr D.R.K Raju , Correspondent, MANSAS has gave a brief view about the fuel cell and its threats .

Dr S.V.A.R Sastry, Coordinator and Dr. Subba Rao, Convener thanked the participants from various industries and prestigious institutions.
