Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation Inaugurated at MVGR College of Engineering

Vizianagaram | 12 August 2026

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), MVGR College of Engineering (Autonomous), proudly inaugurated the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation on 12 August 2026, inspired by the vision of innovation, scientific curiosity, technological excellence, and nation-building envisioned by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The Centre has been established as a dedicated platform for students to explore emerging technologies, transform ideas into practical projects, and develop innovative solutions through hands-on learning. Guided by the philosophy of β€œLearn by Doing,” the Centre encourages students to progress from ideas to projects, projects to prototypes, and prototypes to meaningful innovations.

Two Specialised Student Clubs Launched

As part of the inauguration, two specialised student clubs were launched to provide students with focused platforms for experimentation, interdisciplinary learning, and technology-driven innovation.

AERO FORGE – Drone & UAV Club

AERO FORGE is dedicated to the rapidly evolving fields of Drone and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) technologies. The club provides students with opportunities to explore:

  • Drone design and development
  • Autonomous navigation
  • FPV systems
  • Computer vision
  • SLAM
  • Aerial mapping
  • Embedded control systems
  • Artificial Intelligence

Through practical experimentation and project-based learning, students will gain valuable experience in designing, developing, and testing intelligent aerial systems. The club aims to encourage students to participate in innovative projects, technical competitions, and real-world applications involving UAV technologies.

Β΅CONX – Embedded Systems & IoT Club

Β΅CONX focuses on Embedded Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), and smart automation technologies. The club provides students with opportunities to work on:

  • Microcontrollers and sensors
  • Internet of Things (IoT)
  • PCB design
  • Communication protocols
  • Robotics and automation
  • Real-time systems
  • Embedded Artificial Intelligence

The club aims to enable students to develop innovative embedded and IoT-based solutions for real-world challenges while strengthening their technical, analytical, design, and problem-solving skills.

Fostering a Culture of Innovation

The inauguration of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Innovation marks an important milestone in fostering a culture of creativity, experimentation, interdisciplinary learning, and technological innovation among students.

The Centre will provide students with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines, develop prototypes, participate in technical competitions and innovation challenges, and transform promising ideas into impactful solutions. It will also serve as a platform for students to gain practical exposure to emerging technologies and develop the confidence to undertake technology-driven projects.

The initiative reflects MVGR College of Engineering’s commitment to creating an ecosystem where students can learn beyond the classroom, experiment with new ideas, and develop solutions that address real-world needs.

Acknowledgement
