Transportation

OBJECTIVES:

    1. To provide a Safe and Comfortable service to students and faculty.
    2. To facilitate students to visit industries, outreach programs, NCC/NSS activities.
    3. To provide an efficient operation of various schedules.
Considering the need to provide comfortable and safe transport to the students & staff, MVGR is operating non-profitable basis, a fleet of 28 buses (Ashok Leyland with express seating) from various areas of Visakhapatnam (Kurmannapalem, Gajuwaka, Scindia, Purnamarket, MVP colony, Seetammadhara, Dwarakanagar, Pendurthy, Simhachalam Padmanabham), Srikakulam, Amudalavalasa (SKML),Rajam, Bobbili, Saluru, Kothavalasa,sabbavaram, Kothavalasa, L Kota, S Kota, Cheepurupalli, and Vizianagaram, etc., in the city and terminate in the institute campus. The buses are filled to exact sitting capacity only and no standing is allowed.  Separate bus facility for all the first year students is an added advantage for the new learners. Everyday students reach their destination safely by availing the facility. The bus in-chargers (Staff and students) would closely work with the transport convener for the students’ comfortable journey. In- addition, the convener addresses to any special requests or concerns related to transportation. In addition, there are a large number of APSRTC city and route buses which touch Aynada Junction (@MVGR) bus stop on the National Highway, which is just 1 km away from the Institute. A staff member can be assigned from each department as a transport member and he/she will look into the issues/suggestions/schedules in their respective departments.

Roles & Responsibilities Transport of Convener

  1. He has to schedule the buses route wise in proper timings and monitor the same.
  2. He has to suggest revised and new bus route maps as per the requirement from the students and inform to the authorities.
  3. He has to suggest bus fees yearly to the authorities as per the recommendations taken from the transport committee.
  4. He has to allot students to the buses route wise based on bus seating capacity.
  5. He has to prepare bus passes to the students after properly verifying the student fee receipts.
  6. He has to coordinate student in-charges, staff in-charges, department committee members and Supervisors for the smooth conduction of transport service activities.
  7. He has to arrange alternative vehicles or do other adjustments in need like accidents, breakdowns, extra classes, industrial tours, college co-curricular activities etc. with the permission of authorities.
  8. He has to verify the receipts of GST, Driver’s PF, ESIC etc., and attach to the monthly bill.
  9. He has to prepare oil bill monthly as data given by the junior assistant (junior assistant verifies oil filling data at petrol bunk).
  10. He has to give assistance to audit team in case of reconciliation.
  11. He has to upload drivers, cleaners and bus details in RTA portal website periodically as data provided by the authorities.
  12. He has to duly submit the fee dues to the authorities periodically department wise and bus wise.

Roles & Responsibilities of Bus Driver

  1. He has to start the bus at the specified time mentioned by the transport authorities.
  2. He has to pickup and drop students at the stages as mentioned in the transport availing list only.
  3. He has to wait at the bus stage if the student is in visible distance during pick-ups.
  4. He has to ensure that all students get into the bus properly before bus starts (to not to catch bus in running condition which in turn reduces accidents).
  5. He should not entertain other bus students to board the bus unless and until it is mandatory in the cases like missing college bus (juniors shouldn't enter senior buses and vice versa), permissions brought by students or any other bus adjustments made by transport authorities.
  6. He has to bring bus related issues like breakdowns, windows breakages, water leaking especially in the rainy reason or any other to the notice of transport Convener immediately.
  7. He has to bring unwanted issues like accidents, ragging, commenting, loss of belongings or any other misbehavior  to the notice of Staff In-charges or to the convener immediately.
  8. He should not use abusive language in the bus.
  9. He should not exhibit rude behavior with the students.
