Nasha Mukt Yuva Bharat and Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme Held at MVGR College of Engineering

MVGR College of Engineering, Vizianagaram, organized an awareness programme on β€œNasha Mukt Yuva Bharat” and Anti-Ragging on 14 August 2026. The programme aimed to sensitize students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and addiction, anti-ragging regulations, road safety, child protection, and their responsibilities towards society.

The programme was attended by Sri S. Raghavulu, SDPO, Cheepurupalli; Sri N. Srinivasa Rao, Circle Inspector, Bhogapuram; and Sri A. Sanyasi Naidu, Sub-Inspector of Police, Denkada Police Station, as the chief guests.

Addressing the students, Sri S. Raghavulu, SDPO, Cheepurupalli, interacted with them in a friendly and engaging manner. He narrated a story related to Socrates to highlight the importance of self-awareness, introspection, and responsible behaviour. He sensitized the students about the value of human life, the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful campus environment, anti-ragging practices, road safety, and the provisions of the POCSO Act.

Sri N. Srinivasa Rao, Circle Inspector, Bhogapuram, emphasized the importance of social responsibility, personal safety, discipline, and responsible citizenship. He encouraged students to remain vigilant, make responsible choices, and contribute positively to society.

Sri A. Sanyasi Naidu, Sub-Inspector of Police, Denkada Police Station, created awareness among students about anti-ragging laws and explained the legal consequences associated with ragging. He stressed the importance of maintaining a friendly, inclusive, and respectful environment within educational institutions.

The programme provided students with valuable awareness about the consequences of substance abuse, ragging, unsafe practices, and irresponsible behaviour. The interaction with the police officials also enabled students to understand their responsibilities and the importance of seeking appropriate help when faced with situations affecting their safety and well-being.

The programme was attended by Prof. Y. M. C. Sekhar, Principal, MVGR College of Engineering; Mr. S. Mohan Kumar, Dean – Students; Mr. N. Shanmukha Rao, MVGR-NSS Programme Officer; Prof. B. Sarva Rao, MVGR Anti-Ragging Committee Convener; Mr. T. P. Sreejani, MVGR Anti-Ragging Committee Coordinator; faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students.

The awareness programme reinforced MVGR College of Engineering’s commitment to promoting a safe, responsible, disciplined, and drug-free campus environment, while empowering students to become responsible citizens and active contributors to society.
