MVGRCE Successfully Conducts Five-Day online FDP on Recent Advances in Composite Materials

21- Nov – 2025, MVGRCE(A): The Departments of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, MVGR College of Engineering (Autonomous), Vizianagaram, organized a five-day online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Recent Advances in Composite Materials: Integrating Modelling and Experimental Approaches” from 17th to 21st November 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 487 faculty members across various engineering institutions in India.

The FDP was inaugurated by Dr. Y.M.C. Sekhar, Principal, MVGRCE, who appreciated the collaborative efforts of the departments and emphasized the need for continuous knowledge upgradation in emerging fields of engineering. Dr. Praveen Kalla, HoD–Mechanical, and Dr. S. Murali Sagar Varma, HoD–Civil, welcomed the resource persons and participants.

Over the five days, 10 eminent speakers from reputed institutions such as NIT Rourkela, IIT Hyderabad, NIT Trichy, KIIT, VIT Vellore, MNIT Jaipur, and industry organizations shared their expertise on diverse areas including FRP composites, ballistic performance, geotechnical applications, multiphysics modeling, sustainable pavement technologies, environmental durability, and composite concrete systems.

Key highlights included sessions by

  • Dr. Rajesh Kumar Prusty (NIT Rourkela) on FRP composites and recent industry advancements,
  • Dr. Shubham (VTOL Aviation India) on ballistic response modeling,
  • Dr. Nitin Sharma (KIIT) on multiphysics analysis of composite structures,
  • Dr. Dinesh Kumar Rathore (MNIT Jaipur) on composite manufacturing, and
  • Dr. Kishore Mahato (VIT Vellore) on environmental durability of nano-enhanced composites.

The valedictory session was presided over by the Principal, who congratulated the coordinators and resource persons for the successful execution of the event. Participants provided highly positive feedback, appreciating the depth of technical content and the quality of expert interactions.
